Regeneration Rising Beginning Farmer Podcast from Quivira Coalition
Regeneration Rising is a podcast about the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of young agrarians in the United States. Originally started by Shawna Burhans and Ariel Bobbett, two young agrarians themselves, season two of this beginning farmer podcast will be led by Quivira Coalition’s New Agrarian program. The podcast speaks to the particular challenges that today’s beginning agrarians face through stories, interviews, and other tidbits.
Each episode will explore what it means to work in regenerative agriculture, how people came to choose this as their livelihood, and why it’s important to them and to the future. We hope to build the foundation for a strong community of future agrarians and land stewards with a regenerative approach to community, relationships, and the land.
Noelle McDonough and Sam Schmidt – Unexpected Lessons from Apprenticeship – Regeneration Rising Beginning Farmer Podcast
The first episode of the Regeneration Rising beginning farmer podcast features Noelle McDonough and Sam Schmidt, both in their second year of apprenticeship at San Juan Ranch in Saguache, Colorado. Noelle and Sam talk about their path into agriculture, why they sought out a New Agrarian apprenticeship, and the unexpected lessons they found in their first year of that experience. They offer stories and words of advice that anyone can appreciate, particularly if you’re a fellow beginning rancher or farmer who’s also facing a steep learning curve.
